11-yr-old objects to father’s affair with neighbour, killed

In an attempt to marry his neighbour with whom he was having an illicit relationship, a 35-year-old man killed his 11-year-old daughter in South-West Delhi’s Baba Haridas Nagar area on Monday night. After killing her, he even surrendered himself to the police.  

The accused has been identified as Mahaveer, a resident of <g data-gr-id="27">Dichaon</g> village at Baba Haridas Nagar. During <g data-gr-id="28">investigation</g>, it was learnt that on April 23, his wife had committed suicide by jumping on a railway track after she came to know that Mahaveer was having an illicit relationship with her neighbour.  

On Monday night, Mahaveer strangulated his daughter. 

“His daughter was also <g data-gr-id="25">aware about</g> her father’s illicit relationship and she was not ready to accept her as her step-mother,” a police official privy to <g data-gr-id="24">investigation</g> said. 

After killing her on late Monday night, Mahaveer remained in the house and on early Tuesday morning he made a call to the Police Control Room. 

He informed the police that he had killed his daughter and now he wanted to surrender. 
A police team reached the spot and nabbed him.  

A case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against him and further investigation is underway, police said. 

Meanwhile, her body has been sent for post-mortem examination and reports are awaited.
