The Leader of Opposition in Delhi assembly Vijender Gupta on Wednesday claimed that the 11 drivers recently suspended by Delhi Transport minister Gopal Rai in a surprise inspection were actually on leave. Gupta has demanded reinstatement of these employees with immediate effect. “As per official records, the 11 drivers who were suspended for being absent on duty with informing the office were actually on leave,” said Gupta in a letter to Rai.
He further added that the employees were made <g data-gr-id="19">scape-goats</g> for getting cheap publicity and applause from media. He alleged that the transport minister wanted to show that the Delhi government is a government of action and does not believe in indiscipline. These employees were suspended on April 29 in a surprise inspection by the minister at Rajghat bus depot along with nine other drivers. “The leaves of these drivers have been recorded in duty officers’ registers,” claimed Gupta.
