11 Delhi roads redesigned, to be ready in 6-8 months: Jain

Delhi government has redesigned 11 city roads with an aim to promote public transport, cycling and make them friendly for pedestrians and physically-challenged people. As many as 11 roads in the national Capital have been redesigned and will be ready in next 6-8 months, Delhi PWD Minister Satyendar Jain on Monday said. The redesigned roads will have pedestrian-friendly footpaths keeping in mind that it could be used by both an eight-year-old child as well as an 80-year-old man. “There is no proper footpath in Delhi. And even if they exist, it is like a roller coaster. You cannot take a wheel-chair on it,” Jain said. The minister also added that the Delhi government will consult people on the Odd-Even scheme and take into account the experiences of the first two phases before announcing the next round of the traffic rationing measure.
