10-yr-old boy, allegedly kidnapped by his uncle & associates found in Mongol Puri
Delhi Police on Wednesday rescued a 10-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped by his uncle and two others in south Delhi’s RK Puram area. Three persons have been arrested while the mastermind is still at large. The boy was allegedly kidnapped to settle scores with the victim’s father and to get a ransom of Rs 30 lakh.
The boy was kidnapped on Tuesday when one Raju, a resident of RK Puram, reported it to the police that his 10-year-old son had gone to school in the morning but failed to return.
Also, that he received a call informing about the kidnapping of his son and Rs 30 lakh ransom was allegedly demanded.
“The caller also threatened him that if his demand is not met by 5 pm he will kill the child. Immediately, he cross-checked the whereabouts of his son from the school from where he was found to be missing,” said Prem Nath, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south). Following the guidelines of the police, Raju somehow managed to come to a settlement regarding the ransom from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
Meanwhile, the police team developed criminal intelligence and tracked the caller. Accordingly a trap was laid and the complainant was discretely followed by another police team.
“But somehow the culprits sensed the presence of police and left the boy abandoned near Zakhira Bridge and also left the motorcycle at the spot. The police team then picked him up. Later on, the child informed that he was kidnapped by his uncle Sunil (cousin of his father) and his three associates. On verification, the motorcycle used in the crime was found to be stolen from Mangol Puri area,” said Prem Nath.
Police soon arrested Bhagwan Dass (22), co-accused Tarkeshwar (20) and Karan (20).
Further investigation of the case is in process and raids are being conducted at possible hideouts of the remaining accused Sunil, he added.
