The extravagant automotive show will be held at the Expo Mart, which has already organised popular festivals such as Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair. The dates for the general public have been booked from 7 to 11 February.
Up until now, the Auto Expo was being held at Pragati Maidan. However, due to lack of space for showcasing luxurious cars, the decision to move the venue was taken by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), which jointly organises the automotive show with the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association.
Sugato Sen, deputy director general, SIAM said, ‘For the last few years, we were not able to allocate desired space to the exhibitors due to lack of space in Pragati Maidan. Each exhibitor spends millions for this show and we didn’t want to compromise with their demands. So we found the Expo Mart, as the perfect choice for hosting the show.’
Despite being 30 kms away from the national capital, Sen is expecting ‘more than 1 lakh visitors each day during the seven-day long show’.
To make travel convenient for the visitors, Sen said, ‘We will provide free shuttle services from each Metro station in Noida and Delhi to the visitors who have a pass or ticket for the Auto Expo.’
Tickets will be available from December. The price of the ticket would be Rs 200 for weekdays, while a visitor will have to shell out Rs 300 in the weekends. Security arrangements at the show will be established under three levels, with the presence of metal detectors and scanner for frisking. During the expo, the much awaited Fiat Linea face-lift is expected to be launched.
