Zee Group follows Star, rechristens Ten Sports channels in numeric

Taking a leaf out of Star India’s branding book, Zee Group’s Ten Sports Network has embarked on a similar rebranding exercise by rechristening existing bouquet of channels as Ten1, Ten2, Ten3 and Ten 1HD. The network will be doing away with sport-specific channels and will rebrand them in numeric series -- Ten Sports as Ten1, Ten Action as Ten2, Ten Cricket as Ten3 and Ten HD as Ten1 HD, the company said in a statement. The golf-specific channel Ten Golf HD, however, will continue to have the present name. The network will also be spreading content equally amongst all the channels post-rebranding. It can be recalled that a few years back, the 21st Century Fox-owned Star had rebranded its sports network to bring it under one identity and had named its channels as Star Sports1, 2, 3, and 4 and Star Sports HD1 and HD2. “In August 2015, we embarked on a new journey with the launch of a consolidated network rebranding - the Ten Sports Network, as well as the launch of Ten Golf HD,” Ten Sports Network global chief executive Rajesh Sethi said in a statement.
