Zambrotta looks to end winless streak

Delhi Dynamos coach Gianluca Zambrotta has urged his strikers to start firing and get the campaign back on track as they face struggling FC Pune City in the Hero Indian Super League clash at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Thursday.

Dynamos winless four-match streak this season is increasingly becoming a cause of concern for the club as no team has ever qualified for ISL semifinal stage after enduring five consecutive winless results. “In the last match (against ATK) we had opportunities to score but we didn’t kill the match. We are able to create a lot of chances and that’s no problem for us. Unfortunately in the last match, there were some mistakes. Football is like this, sometimes it may appear cruel. It is important for us to think positively,” said Zambrotta.

The Italian coach feels his side has been making progress since he took charge in September for pre-season but called for improvement from his attackers. “We have very good players but they are not at their best currently. They have to improve,” he said.

On other side, Pune coach Antonio Habas is also struggling with his team’s form. Pune has just one win in the last five games losing twice and drawing twice.

“We have 95 per cent new players. We have created scoring chances. We need time to settle down but the problem is that ISL is a short competition. We have to improve, create more chances and score more goals,” said Habas.

A win for Delhi Dynamos will help them move into to the top four.
