Woman trainee death: Family allege murder

Family members of Purnima Debnath, whose body was found hanging from the ceiling inside the staff quarter of Eastern Metropolitan club at Survey Park on Monday, have alleged that the girl was murdered.

Police investigation suggests that the victim might have committed suicide as her body was found hanging from the ceiling. Debnath (22) a student of hotel management came to the club for her practical classes and had been currently staying at the staff quarter. The victim was originally from Balurghat in South Dinajpur and came here a few days ago. 

She was pursuing her management course at a private institute in Balurghat.

Police came to know in the course of investigation that the victim got married earlier but was later separated from her husband following some dispute. On the basis of the primary investigation, police suspect that the victim might have committed suicide following some mental depression.

The victim’s family members at Balurghat have alleged that Purnima did not commit suicide and she was murdered. They also demanded arrest of the accused who was behind the crime. Purnima belonged to a lower middle-class family with her father working at a private company in Balurghat. 

A few days ago, she came to the city to work as a trainee at the Eastern Metropolitan Club. Police came to know she developed a relation with one of her colleagues. Police interrogated the youth with whom she had developed a relationship with.
