Woman Rail official, IITan son found dead

A woman railway official (52) and her son were found dead under mysterious circumstances in their residence here, police said. The dead bodies of Arvind Gill and her son, Gagan, were recovered on Tuesday from their residence in Rail Vihar in Vasundhara Sector III when police broke in after complaints from neighbours about a foul smell came in. Both were found lying on their beds, with their wrists cut. The son, who is pursuing his bachelor’s degree from IIT Roorkee, was said to be suffering from depression.

Police said that Gill, who worked as a private secretary to a senior officer in the Railway Board, was living with her son in their Rail Vihar residence, while her husband Harmeet Gill, an engineer with a private construction company, lives in Delhi. Harmeet Gill told the police that his wife and son had left him two years ago. “The dead bodies have been recovered and forensic team had collected the evidence from the spot. Prima facie it seems a case of suicide but since the investigation is on the final outcome could only be revealed after the probe,” said Superintendent of Police (City) Ajay Pal.
