Will not repeat past mistakes once elected: Arvind Kejriwal

Speaking at a similar gathering in the Chhatarpur constituency on Friday evening, the AAP chief said leaving the Chief Minister’s post was his biggest political mistake. But he did not hesitate to mention that it was not a crime.

The rally was held at Sanjay Colony in Bhati Mines area where the party targeted 10,000 slum voters. It was Kejriwal’s second rally in the constituency where BJP-councillor Kartar Singh Tanwar is contesting on an AAP ticket. Showing full confidence on an emphatic victory in Chhatarpur constituency, the party also made six local BSP and BJP leader joined the AAP.

Slamming the Modi-led government at the Centre over neglecting the slum-dwellers after coming to power, Kejriwal added: “We ensured that no slum will be removed from Delhi until an alternative accommodation is arranged. Modi government destroyed slums at several areas in the capital when winters were at its peak. Till now, those helpless families are forced to live under open sky with their kids.”

The AAP Convener also attacked Modi over his claims of giving every Indian a pucca house by 2022. “Modi government demolished slums in 2014-15 and has promised houses till 2022. The whole plan is to get back land from the poor and give it to the business tycoons,” he said.

Touching the common man’s nerve, Kejriwal also attacked Prime Minister Modi’s insecurity over ‘possible’ loss in Delhi elections despite winning in Haryana, Jharkhand and J&K.

“Modi himself came to BJP’s rescue by holding a rally at Ramlila Maidan and after witnessing cold response from Delhiites,  Modi abused me in his entire speech. The Prime Minister did not talk about issues in Delhi but called me a Naxalite who should be sent to the jungle. Is this the politics our Prime Minister believes in?” asked Kejriwal.

The former Delhi Chief Minister who claims to have learnt from his past mistakes also waived some documents against Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay in regard to faulty electric meters’ contract. He took a dig at Upadhyay and said: “Now, I carry documents on each of my claims because my political rivals can sue me whenever they want. I don’t have any relation with Ambani. I have a relation with the masses in general and I owe a lot to them. So after becoming the Chief Minister this time, I will work for you, not for Ambani.”

The party chief also reassured voters of giving subsidised electricity and free water to all once elected.
