Who gets to rule Gujarat?

With hardly 50 days left for the crucial assembly elections in Gujarat the two major parties- the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the opposition Congress party have geared up to woo voters.  Both the parties would be preparing the first list of candidates for the 182 member house, soon.

The one month long Vivekanand Yuva Vikas Yatra led by CM Narendra Modi ended at the religious place of Pavagadh in central Gujarat  where the saffron party were in an upbeat mood. Barring a few regions, the rallies and meetings of Modi were well attended.

The political observers are of the opinion that Modi has completed the first round of battle and now the second round has commenced.

While the Congress which has not left any stone unturned to expose the misddeds of Modi, they are hopeful of improving their chances particularly after the huge farmers rally addressed by AICC president Sonia Gandhi at Rajkot last week.

It is to be seen how Keshubhai Patel’s Gujarat Parivartan Party sways the electorate. It is believed that Patel would make some dents in the BJP armour as well as the Leuva Patels of Saurashtra and North Gujarat might throw their weight behind the veteran leader who was one of the founders of the Jan Sangh and the BJP in Gujarat.

Former BJP national general secretarey Sanjao Joshi paid a day’s visit to Ahmedabad anad attended a function at a former MLA’s place which was crowded by Joshi’s supporters. A RSS pracharak Sanjay Joshi held a cloed door meeting with some of the senior RSS leaders at their headquarters at Hedgewar Bhavan in South Ahmedabad from where Modi was elected to state assembly.

But he did not meet media perople or make any comments about CM Narendra Modi.
