When Sheila waited for 20 mins to escort Sonia

Clad in a khadi blue saari and an orange jacket, former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was at Nirman Bhawan at 9.15 am not to cast her vote but to “escort” Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

Dikshit had to wait for 20 minutes for her leader who came at 9.35 am to cast her franchise at the
Nirman Bhawan booth. “I came here to escort Sonia Gandhi. I am not here to vote as my polling booth is not this,” she said.

The former Delhi Chief Minister was accompanied by Kiran Walia who is contesting from New Delhi, and Congress leader Arvinder Singh Lovely also. When asked on the poll scenario, she said: “Whatever the people want will happen.”

The Congress, which had ruled Delhi for 15-years was crushed to in the 2013 Assembly polls and could manage only eight seats and this time some exit polls have predicted less than five seats for the party in 2015 Assembly polls.

Dikshit sounded upbeat and said: “Congress is putting up a tough fight. We are confident of a good performance.”

The Congress had extended outside support to AAP to form a government after the 2013 polls. The Arvind Kejriwal-led government had quit after remaining in power for 49 days.

“If Ajay Maken had said we will not support AAP, it means we will not. The party will decide what to
do. Let the results come out,” said Dikshit.
