Wanted robber held from West Delhi

A 22-year-old man, released from jail in 2012, was arrested from Mianwali Nagar area in west Delhi on Monday for his alleged involvement in half-a-dozen cases in the past six months.

The accused was wanted by police for his alleged involvement in cases of attempt to murder, burglary, auto-lifting, house trespassing and illegal possession of arms, informed a senior police official. All six cases against Aakash Singh (22) alias Chotu were registered from 9 March 2014 to 24 August 2014. ‘In March 2011, he eloped with a minor girl and got himself arrested. After he was released from jail in June 2012, he started getting involved in criminal activities,’ the officer said.
‘Within a very short time, he has been involved in various cases of auto-lifting in Udyog Nagar area of West Delhi,’ added the officer.

He further said that one of Aakash’s associates, Rahul (alias Monu), who was also involved in the attempt to murder case, was arrested soon after an incident in July. He revealed Aakash’s identity after intensive interrogation.

After interrogation, Aakash admitted that he had stolen the motorbike recently from Uttam Nagar area. ‘Soon after that, Aakash’s other associate Shamshuddin, involved in an attempt to murder case was also arrested,’ the official added.

Aakash Singh, worked as a labourer in a Korarapur village near Agra. In 2003, he migrated to Delhi, with his father, and started working in a shoe factory. After the death of his father a few years ago, he started a key chains shop.
