Vivekananda Road flyover will be functional from Feb: CM

The Vivekananda Road flyover connecting Posta and Chittranjan Avenue will be functional from February, 2016, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said during the inauguration of a Jagadhatri Puja at Posta here on Monday.

Banerjee said work on the link between Congress Exhibition Road (near Park Circus) and the approach road to AJC Bose Road will be completed by March. A senior official of KMDA said, “Till now, we used to work from 11 pm to 5 am at Posta. On Monday, we have requested the Urban Development Minister to change our work timing from 8 pm to 7 am. We will be able to complete the pending work within two to three months if we get time to work.”

According to KMDA sources, senior officers of Kolkata police have already discussed the matter with them. It is expected that the inauguration of the flyover, the residents will get a huge relief from traffic congestion at Posta area. The construction work of Vivekananda Road flyover was started in March 2009.
