‘Use digital tech to fight graft,’ farm Ministry advises coops

Cooperative societies need to adopt digital technologies and computerisation in a big way to fight against corruption and black money, as also ensure that benefit reaches poor and needy people, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said. 

The minister said the number of cooperative societies have increased to 8 lakh in India with 40 crore members from 6 lakh societies comprising 25 crore members a few years back but their performances are not “satisfactory”. “Cooperative sector has developed but its performance has not been satisfactory.”
