Uncertainty looms over Rita’s BJP stint

The power corridors in Delhi and Lucknow were abuzz on Monday whether UP Congress stalwart Rita Bahuguna Joshi will jump the ship and head BJP way or not. It was reported that Joshi was upset for being sidelined in Congress ever since her brother former CM of Uttrakhand Vijay Bahuguna joined BJP.

It was rumoured that Joshi had earlier met Samajhvadi Party leaders too but the things didn’t work out. Joshi is Lucknow Cant MLA and Samajhvadi party had already announced that Aparna Yadav, daughter-in-law of SP Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, will contest assembly poll from there.

However, it was claimed that she recently met BJP President Amit Shah and other senior leaders of party hailing from Uttar Pradesh to discuss nitty gritties of her shift to the saffron fold soon. It is being claimed that 67-year-old is miffed with Congress leadership and felt that she was being sidelined despite being a Brahmin face. Congress has gone all out to woo Brahmins and projected former Delhi CM Sheila Dixit as Congress’ UP CM face. Daughter of former UP CM Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna, Joshi was last seen in Allahabad sharing space with Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi during his Kisan yatra.

Though Joshi couldn’t be reached out as her phones were switched off, her brother Vijay Bahuguna while talking to few media persons stated that these are just rumours and there is no truth in it.
