Two men run away with Rs 5.65 lakh

In a daring day light robbery in south-east’s Ambedkar Nagar area, two bike borne assailants looted Rs 5.65 lakh in cash from two petrol pump employees on Monday.

The incident took place in Ambedkar Nagar’s Pushp market area around 1.10 pm. The petrol pump manager Rajkumar along with owner’s son Gautam Sonkar came to deposit around Rs 5.65 lakh in a branch of SBI bank located in Pushp Bhawan in the market.

Rajkumar told the police, as they walked towards bank after parking their car, two people on a motorcycle stepped in and stopped them. They allegedly tried to snatch the bag from Rajkumar and when they resisted, the pillion rider opened fire in the air with a gun.

‘They took away the bag that had Rs 5.65 lakh and fled from the scene,’ Rajkumar told the police. He said that assailants were wearing helmets and another helmet was tied up near number plate to hide it from being noted. After the assailaints opened fire, the market in southeast Delhi was gripped by panic. During investigation the police came to the realisation that the robbers had prior information about the money. They were already at the market waiting for the arrival of Rajkumar and Gautam. The victims informed the police that they keep changing the time of deposit. ‘A case of robbery has been registered. We have recorded statements of victims,’ said the official.
