Two killed, four injured in road accident

Two persons were killed while four others injured after a truck carrying stone chips had collided head on with another vehicle, in which the victims were travelling, at Itahar in North Dinajpur on Friday, police said. 

The incident sparked tension in the area as some local people blocked the road on National Highway-34 to protest against the reckless driving. 

They demanded speed breakers to slow down the trucks. Later, the demonstration was lifted following the intervention of police, who assured them to fulfill their demands. 

The local residents immediately took the injured passengers to Raiganj district hospital where two of them were declared brought dead, while the others have been undergoing treatment.
