Truck kills fish trader

A mob staged demonstration on Kandi state highway to protest against the speeding of vehicles in the area. The protest was withdrawn following the intervention of the senior police officers who rushed to the spot to control the situation.

 Police said that Kalan Hazra (35), a local fish trader was on his way to Jibanta Bazaar on his bicycle in order to sell fishes when a truck hit him from behind on his way to Baharampur from Kandi. Hazra was a resident of Dhala village of Mahalandi under Kandi police station.

The dead body has been sent for post-mortem at the Kandi Sub-divisional Hospital.
