TMC will win 225 seats in elections: Madan Mitra

Claiming that no one can break the record of Trinamool Congress in the next 100 years, the former State Transport Minister Madan Mitra on Wednesday said that the party will win the forthcoming Assembly elections with 225 seats. Branding the alliance between Congress and CPI(M) to fight the election as an alliance of muscle and money powers, Mitra said that Chief Minister has worked for the people and thus no one can restrict the party getting less than 225 seats. Citing the example of Sachin Tendulkar’s record in cricket, he said as it is difficult to break records of Sachin it is also difficult to break the record of Mamata Banerjee. “I will also like to tell people that I am a Trinamool Congress MLA and I will follow the party’s instruction. I will contest in the elections if the party allows me to and if it doesn’t allows I will not contest. One must keep in mind that I have not made the party but it is the party that made me a leader,” he said that people will be happy with whatever decision Banerjee takes. This is the second time when Mitra stated that he is willing to take part in the elections if the party allows him. It may be mentioned that some leaders of Trinamool Congress had earlier hinted on Mitra fighting the elections from Kamarhati from where he had been elected as an MLA in 2011.Meanwhile, the hearing on his bail plea has been adjourned due to the absence of his counsel and it will take place on February 26. While the hearing in connection with a Saradha scam related case has taken place on Wednesday and judicial custody has been extended till March 9.
