TMC lodges complaint against BJP for holding Narada press conference

Trinamool Congress on Thursday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India against state BJP leadership for holding a press conference on Narada sting operation issue.

TMC leaders, in a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Naseem Zaidi, said the BJP had flouted the norm by holding the press conference on the matter. As the matter was pending before the High Court and the Ethics Committee of Parliament headed by veteran politician LK Advani, holding any press conference on the issue is illegal. TMC leaders alleged that knowing this the BJP leaders had held the press conference to influence voters. “It is maligning the party deliberately,” the leaders said.

On Thursday afternoon Joybrata Mazumdar held a press conference at BJP state headquarters on Muralidhar Sen Lane and alleged involvement of TMC leaders in the scam which had come to light by the sting operation conducted by Narada News. He alleged that Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee should have dropped the candidates whose names had appeared in the sting operation.
But Mamata Banerjee did not pay any heed to this and later on said had the sting operation come to light early before the publication of the candidate she could have given a second thought. “It clearly shows that she has accepted the sting operation as true,” Mazumdar said.
