Three workers dead, one hurt in hospital wall collapse

Three construction workers were <g data-gr-id="22">killed,</g> while one is battling for life after a wall in the basement of an <g data-gr-id="19">under construction</g> hospital collapsed in <g data-gr-id="20">South West</g> Delhi’s Dwarka area late Thursday night.

According to the Fire department, they received a call around 11.50pm, following which five fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Firemen, along with the help of police personnel, started the rescue operation. Police said four workers were present at the spot when the incident took place. 

The officials rescued all four workers. They were rushed to the nearby Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where Gulzar (21), Santosh (25) and Jitender (26) were declared brought dead. The condition of another victim, Ali Hasan (22), is stated to be critical.

“The basement is around 40-feet deep. A makeshift wall constructed in the basement collapsed and the four victims, working at the site, were buried in the debris,” said RA Sanjeev, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West).

The Dwarka police <g data-gr-id="21">has</g> registered a case against the construction company for causing death due to negligence. So far, no arrest has been made, said a police official.
