Three JNU students missing in Uttarakhand

Three students from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), who had gone to Kedarnath on 16 June, were still missing on 2 July.
Source from the University, on the condition of anonymity, said, ‘Umesh Kumar Maurya from Varanasi and Amit Kumar and Aarti Patidar were seen last seen together on 16 June at the campus.'
Since then nothing has been heard of them. The incident came to light on 23 June, when worried members of the students’ family came to the JNU campus to enquire about their wards.

S K Sopory JNU vice-chancellor said, ‘We have already informed the concerned ministry and are doing out best to search the missing students. I hope to see them back at the campus soon.'
Added Sunita Reddy, warden of the university’s Godavari Hostel, 'I got to know that Arti Patidar is missing from a hostel friend.

‘Her parents too have had no news of her.'
Tuesday was the last day of rescue operations in Uttarakhand and approximately 1.1 lakh survivors had been rescued by the Indian army till Tuesday.
