Three held for abducting teacher

Three persons including two women were arrested from Sonarpur on charges of kidnapping a school teacher on Friday morning.

Police said Nandita Ghosh, a teacher of Kalidhan Institute for Girls, was kidnapped from outside her school on Southern Avenue. Later, the police had rescued her from Anandamoi Bhavan at Sonarpur in South 24 Parganas within a few hours. She had received a call in her cell phone when she was in school on Friday morning. The caller was known to her and asked her come out for a while.

She was forced into a car as soon as she went out and they left towards the South. Some local people saw the incident and informed it to the school authorities. Her family members lodged a complaint with Tollygunge police station.

The investigating officers tracked the tower location of her cell phone and came to know that she was somewhere in Sonarpur. Tracing her phone, the officers reached Anandamoi Bhavan and rescued her. Two women and the person who drove the car were arrested. The car was also seized.

Police are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind abduction. They suspect that she was kidnapped as she had taken Rs 1.5 lakh from a local resident on the pretext of providing a job. Police also came to know that she had taken loan from some banks and there was dispute in terms of repayment.
