THDC organises disaster relief camp at Tehri

THDC India Limited (THDCIL) has come forward and taken the initiative to extend help and assistance to the thousands of Char Dham Yatra pilgrims and local population who are severely affected due to recent cloud bursts and heavy rainfall causing large scale disaster in Uttarakhand. 

A disaster relief camp at Mechanical Workshop in Koti Colony, Tehri is organised from 19 June 2013 onwards. In this camp more than 10,000 pilgrims who were stranded at Guptkashi and nearby places and evacuated via Tehri, were provided food and medical assistance including medicines. Food packets were distributed to pilgrims who were in a hurry to move to Rishikesh. Arrangements for their stay were made in the camp. Further, 5 buses, 10 light vehicles and four water tankers were provided to the district administration to rescue the pilgrims stranded at different locations. The relief camp is still going on. THDCIL also helped the administration in clearing the heavy landslide by deputing heavy earthmoving equipments for smooth passage of the pilgrims and the local populace.
