Talwars' court-hopping delaying case: CBI

Four years have passed since 14-year-old Aarushi Talwar and Hemraj were killed, but still the picture is not clear. While CBI's flip flops have been discussed much, moving of the accused Talwar couple from one court to another has been another point of contention in the case.

After CBI decided to file closure report in a Ghaziabad court over a year ago, the Talwar couple has been busy moving from one court to another. They have approached the trial court, Allahabad High Court and Supreme Court for various reliefs. CBI has also been accusing them of delaying the case by approaching various courts.

Talwars first moved the Allahabad High Court against the trial court order which made them accused in the case. The High Court sent them to the trial court. They then moved the Supreme Court, which stayed the case and sent them back to trial court.

Again, Nupur Talwar approached the High Court. This time she wanted exemption from court appearances, and also wanted interim bail. But her petition was dismissed.

After this, Talwars once again moved the apex court, demanding transfer of the case from the Ghaziabad to Delhi. This was again dismissed. She, however, did not go to the trial court on four dates and a non-bailable warrant was issued against her. She then moved the apex court for stay on the warrant but did not get any relief.

Last month, Nupur  moved a session court for bail and disappointed,  moved to Supreme Court for review of its order of allowing her criminal prosecution in the twin murder case. She also moved the High Court for bail, which has been deferred till 22 May by the High Court. Meanwhile, the trial court will start hearing arguments on framing of charges against the dentist couple on 21 May.

While Rajesh Talwar is out on bail, Nupur was taken into custody on 30 April by a Ghaziabad court before which she had surrendered on a direction by the Supreme Court.
