Talent on display

They cannot hear. They cannot speak. But their work echoed a thousand words of their ability and creativity at the ongoing Heimtextil India 2016, an international exhibition of home furnishings which was inaugurated on Wednesday in the national Capital.

 From candle stands made of paper to embroidery work and more such attractions, displayed by differently abled children, were appreciated by the visitors at pavilion number 8.

The furnishing industry in the country opened its three-day fair at the exhibition grounds of Pragati Maidan on June 22 in hall no. 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 from 10am to 6pm. Clearance of Rs 6000 cr special package is welcomed by textile key players consisting of 130 domestic companies. 

Arranged by German trade fair organisers Messe Frankfurt, the co-joint fair, showcased a variety of products in home furnishing categories, and  was inaugurated by Delhi’s Minister for Industries Satyendar Jain. Welcoming a pool of exquisite fabric and home furnishings by the organisers, he said, “I congratulate Messe Frankfurt for creating this international level show, which will provide the much-needed opportunity to domestic traders to enhance their business and aid the growth and promotion of Indian textiles.”

In its third edition, Heimtextil India and Ambiente attracted home fashionistas, leading designers and retailers. Over 200 companies from India, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, China, Japan, Korea and Russia are participating with their collections in dining, living and home textile segments. The categories on display include bedroom and bath linen, table linen, kitchen textiles, furniture fabric and textile floor coverings, among others. 

Top home fashion players, including D’decor, Raymond, Reliance, Welspun, Nilkamal are showcasing the season’s interior decor and home textile collections at Heimtextil India. 

“The Indian home furnishing industry is growing rapidly and people are ready to shell out a greater part of their disposable income towards luxury living. I am happy to be associated with such an initiative and to be a part of the judging panelist for Interior Lifestyle Awards (ILA),” said Sunil Sethi, President, Fashion Design Council of India.

Giving a platform to budding designers, the fair showcased works by aspiring Indian artists in their ‘ILA Experience Zone’ that featured four distinctive concepts- Metamorphosis, Serendipity, Genesis and Quintessential. Women power took the centre stage this year at the ILA 2016.

 Riddhi Jain (Home Textile Category) and Akriti and Nayanika (Interior Decor Category) who were awarded the title of ILA Awards 2016, will now represent India in Hemitexil and Ambiente Frankfurt 2017 to be organised next year at Frankfurt, Germany.

The vast gamut of interior products from India and abroad is sure to fascinate buyers. Be it ‘luxury living’ or ‘small spaces’ concept, exhibiting companies here, have an array of creative, multi-utilitarian and interesting design solutions across product groups and price ranges. 

From themed exhibits that offer the latest lifestyle concepts to inspiring product designs, seminars on sustainability and must-experience trend zones, the platform will offer a quality experience in terms of business and industry networking.
