Swamy asks home min to keep eye on Sam Pitroda

According to sources, fearing Pitroda, former chairman of National Innovation Council, might leave India ahead of the final hearing in the NH case at the Delhi high court, Swamy has alerted the home ministry to do the needful.

‘I have sent a letter to home ministry to ask the immigration department to put Sam Pitroda on an airport watch-list in connection with the NH case,’ Swamy said.

It was learnt the home minister has gone through Swamy’s letter and assured him of necessary action. Earlier, Swamy had levelled charges of ‘cheating’ in the acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd. (AJL), the publisher of the now defunct National Herald newspaper (English daily started by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru in 1938), by the Young Indian Private Ltd. (YIL), in which UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi each own a 38-per cent stake.

Pitroda came into limelight because he is on the managing committee of YIL, which acquired Associated Journals Private Limited. YIL, according to the ministry of corporate affairs website, was formed on 23 November 2010 and registered under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956, with its address as 5A, Herald House, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi -- the office of the now defunct National Herald. Soon, a petition was filed before the Delhi high court by Swamy.

Pitroda, who is yet to be served with the summons, has not filed a plea in the high court so far.
