Suspended Jailer Kills Wife, Self In Lucknow

A suspended jailer shot dead his wife and then killed himself here Friday, said police.
RK Kesarwani was under suspension after riots broke out in the prison in Basti in March where he was the jailer.
Police said that after a spat with her husband, Kesarwani's wife Sunita had consumed pesticide to commit suicide.
When Kesarwani insisted on taking his wife to the hospital, she refused. He took out his service revolver and shot her on the temple. He then turned the gun on himself, said an official.
Kesarwani's mother, daughter, a guard and a domestic help were present in the house in Krishnanagar locality at the time of the incident.
The couple were taken to the King George Medical University but were declared brought dead.
Police have also recovered a suicide note. An official said Kesarwani, in the suicide note, wrote that they were fed up with the domestic feuds and were taking their lives. The note also said that the family's property be distributed equally between their son and daughter.
Inspector General of Police Ashutosh Pandey said it was unclear when Kesarwani wrote the note. A probe has been ordered. Kesarwani was earlier jailer of Lucknow prison.
