Surjya Kanta’s rally attacked at Narma village

The CPI(M) on Friday alleged that a procession, led by the party’s state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra, was attacked at Narma village in West Midnapore district by Trinamool Congress supporters.

The CPI(M) alleged that the procession was stopped and attacked at Narma village under Narayangarh police station on way to Madan Mohan Chowk, 50 km from Midnapore town. The police said as the rally was stopped at Bakitaki village, some distance away from the destination, the processionists called for its help.

After the arrival of the police on the scene, it was mutually agreed to terminate the procession at the village, sources said. CPI(M) politburo member and Left Front chairman Biman Bose said that the administration had been informed of the party programme before hand, but yet the procession was attacked.
