State govt to set up Ayush Hospital in North Bengal

Asish Banerjee, Minister-in-charge of Ayush Deaprtment in the state confirmed that a 50-bedded hospital dedicated to Ayush medications will soon come up on some acres of land at Topsi Khata area in Alipurduar where the best of facilities and infrastructure will be available. 

“The tendering process will soon be completed following which the construction work will begin. It will be one of finest Ayush hospital in the country. Around Rs 9 crore will be spent to set up the hospital initially. The expert doctors from the state and outside with expertise in the field will be invited to serve the people,” Asish said. 

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after coming to power had laid emphasis in building infrastructure 

in Ayush and asked the health department officialsto take steps to revamp health infrastructure in the state. 

A separate department has been formed headed by a minister to accelerate various Ayush projects.     

Separate units of Ayush will be set up in the subsidiary health care units in all the districts of the state. 

These units have already been set up in seven districts — Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Birbhum, West Midnapore, Nadia, North 24-Parganas and South-24 Parganas. 

Medical officers will be deployed in all the Ayush units. 

Asish said, “We will soon deploy Ayush medical officers in subsidiary health centres. Adequate arrangements of medicines will be made in all the units so that poor patients can get the advantage medicines at free of cost. 

Around 95 posts of senior medical officer are being created to provide Ayush services in the districts in a better way.” 

“Chief Minister has taken initiatives to set up better infrastructure of Aysuh medication services in all the districts. All the districts will soon a get separate unit dedicated to Ayush. The units have already been inaugurated by the Chief Minister in seven districts,” he said.  

This marked another milestone towards improving the health care delivery in the state which would benefit many people. 

Ayush system of medication has a significant role in delivering health care to masses. It is cost effective and benefit economically challenged patients.
