Start accepting fees in bank drafts: Govt to transport dept

In view of cash-crunch due to demonetisation, the Delhi government today directed transport department to start accepting fees and payments in the form of bank drafts and pay orders for all transport services.

Transport Minister Satyendar Jain has issued an order in this regard asking the officers to immediately start accepting fees and payments in the form of bank drafts and pay orders for all services being provided by his department.

A senior government official said that due to demonetisation, people were facing problems as they did not have sufficient cash and most of them were not able to pay various fees including licence fee, permit fee, and tax among others.

“Keeping in view of the scarcity of cash due to demonetisation, please start accepting fees and payments in the form of Bank drafts/pay orders also immediately for all transport matters,” Transport Minister Satyendar Jain said in the order. The official said that the move will ensure hassle-free services for the people of Delhi.
