Super Cup has been unpredictable: Kadam

Exuberating confidence on the eve of their semi-finals match against Bengaluru FC, Mohun Bagan's Nikhil Kadam said it's too early to call the Sunil Chhetri-led side favourite for the knockout tie in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
"I don't think so they (Bengaluru FC) are the overwhelming favourites. It has been unpredictable as so many ISL sides have lost to I-league teams despite being tagged as the favourite. Plus, we (Bagan) have a strong team with quality players in all department. We feel very confident about our strengths," said the 23-year-old winger.
Talking about his team's fine run in the inaugural AIFF competition, Kadam said they want to bring the silverware home after missing on the I-league on the final day.
"We had a roller-coaster of a season in I-league this year, we struggled in the first half of the season but with a new coach ( Shankarlal Chakraborty), we were slowly back on track. We made our case for the title on the final day of the league. Making such comeback really boosted the mood of the squad. That's why we came in this competition to go all the way to the final," said the Kolhapur-born footballer.
Mentioning the final, if Green and Maroon brigade beat Bengaluru in the last four, arch-rival East Bengal await in the marquee clash. But Kadam doesn't want to think of the final yet.
"It's too early to talk about the final. We need to beat Bengaluru first. But yeah, a Kolkata Derby in the final is something every player and fan will love to watch. Fans have come all the way to Bhubaneswar (from Kolkata) to watch us in action. I am pretty sure it will be a houseful. But as I mentioned earlier, we must hold those thoughts for now as Bengaluru is a tough challenge," he explained.
Speaking of his individual performance, Kadam said: "I am happy with my performance this season but I need to get better. I didn't get a call from the national team that means there is still a lot need to be done on the individual level."
The Mohun Bagan footballer also revealed that he is uncertain of his future at the club as his contract lasts till the Super Cup.
