SP favouring tie-up proves it’s in bad shape: Maya

Taking a dig at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav favouring an alliance for the coming Assembly elections, BSP supremo Mayawati on Tuesday said it proves that ruling Samajwadi Party is in a very bad shape in the state.

“SP had transferred its vote in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls to BJP after which it’s (SP’s) condition has been very bad and this is the reason as to why the Chief Minister has been repeatedly talking about an alliance,” a BSP release quoting Mayawati said here.

“It needs to be pondered seriously as to why the chief minister who fought the 2012 Assembly polls alone feels the need for an alliance in the coming elections,” she said.

Mayawati said Akhilesh’s statement on ticket distribution in SP also indicated that the ongoing tussle in his party is far from over and Muslims should not waste their votes on SP.

Akhilesh has said, “Tickets are changed till last moment. We will only field those who can win elections. I will give my suggestions and advice on Assembly tickets to the party president.” Vote to SP would eventually help BJP which has forced hardships on the people through its “immature decision” on demonetisation, she said.
