Sourav Ganguly may campaign for Vaishali Dalmiya

The former captain of the Indian cricket team Sourav Ganguly may campaign for Trinamool Congress candidate from Bally Assembly constituency, Vaishali Dalmiya.

Dalmiya in an interview on Saturday said: “Ganguly is my childhood friend and he may not be able to turn down my request of campaigning.”

The daughter of the well known cricket organiser Jagmohan Dalmiya will be contesting in the election for the first time. The Trinamool Congress leadership has nominated her as the party’s candidate from the Assembly constituency replacing the former IPS officer Sultan Singh. Singh had bagged the seat by a huge margin in 2011. She said that her main motto is to serve the people and that is the reason for stepping into politics. She said that her father was a cricket administrator. So she is not at all new to politics. “I will go to each and every part of the Assembly constituency to know what the people of the area want. It would not be right to comment what I would like to do for the people before speaking to the people. I have to work to help them get all facilities which should be available for a healthy living,” she said. In reply to a question that whether she would face problems being an outsider, she said “The place where I reside at present was once new to me. Now I know the place
well. Similarly Bally will also become my own place once I get involved with work in the area.”
