Sidharth feels lucky to get romantic, action films

Actor Sidharth Malhotra feels romantic and action films are lucky for him. “I have been getting a wide range of different offers. I get more of romantic and action films, I consider myself lucky in the zone,” said Sidharth. But the former model-actor admits it is painful to get different kind of exciting roles.

“Actors shouldn’t look at films or roles in a selfish manner. The more good stories you do, the better your library (filmography). I better be part of good films even though I have small parts in it,” he said.

However, the 31-year-old actor believes in breaking the stereotypes and taking risks in career. “I don’t want to do things that earlier actors used to do. Initially heroes used to play heroes only. I want to carve my own niche. I don’t want to commit to one genre or style,” Sidharth said.

“It is not a norm (to stick to one genre) so it seems risky, but the endeavour is to do something new and not be the same in every film. This adds novelty and freshness to my work,” he said. Since their debut film Student of the Year, Sidharth has been linked to fellow actor Alia Bhatt. Now that the duo has come together for their next outing Kapoor And Sons, the gossip mills are again abuzz about their closeness.

The Ek Villain star revealed initially he used to get annoyed with such reports. “Now we have trained ourselves to chose what we want to give importance to (stories) and what not. Sometimes you can’t get stressed and waste your energy on these (rumours) things,” Sidharth said.

After doing two serious movies, the actor says he enjoyed doing Kapoor And Sons as he feels it is easy to shoot light-hearted films. “Our job is to make things look easy. It is less physically stressful, as it is not an action film or intense kind of a role where you need to put in hours,” he said.

The Shakun Batra-directed film also stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Alia Bhatt in the lead. Produced by Karan Johar, Kapoor And Sons hits cinema halls this Friday.
