Siddiqullah assures cooperation with TMC

President of state Jamiat Ulama-E-Hind Siddiqullah Chowdhury has assured cooperation with the Trinamool Congress government to ensure development of the state.

He was addressing a rally in Purulia. Chowdhury met Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and state Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim at Nabanna on Wednesday. Speaking about the meeting, he said he had assured Banerjee that he would cooperate to ensure development of the state.

It may recalled that the Chief Minister had addressed a rally organised by Chowdhury in November 2015 in Kolkata.  Banerjee had been to Fur Fura Shariff and the Piryada had assured to cooperate with her. Thus Banerjee has managed to get support of the Bengali speaking minority community.

Party insiders said Chowdhury had requested five seats in the forthcoming Assembly polls. It was learnt that one seat will be given most likely in North 24-Parganas.

Chowdhury said various steps have been taken by the Chief Minister to develop the minority community. “We must ensure all round development and we should not do anything that will lower the prestige of our Chief Minister,” he maintained.
