Shahid-PC in shayarana mood

The newest couple of Bollywood (reportedly), Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra came down to the capital to promote their upcoming film Teri Meri Kahaani on Saturday. However, they shied away from answering personal questions at the press meet.

Instead, they chose to take refuge in shayaris and spoke about the movie which tells the story of three different love stories in three different eras. ‘It is a story of three different love stories each set in different time zones and therefore, ‘thrice upon a love story,' said Kunal Kohli.

Kunal also hinted that Shahid and Piggy Chops were the best jodi
for him and the choice was for the obvious reason that they looked good together and also because he believed Priyanka is the best actress at present. ‘The choice was obvious... look at their chemistry,' said Kohli.

Teri Mari Kahani is about three love stories - one is set in Lahore in 1910 where Shahid plays Javed Quadri, a man who does not subscribe to the idea that Britishers are encroaching on freedom. Piggy Chops plays Aaradhna, the daughter of a Sikh freedom fighter. She is initially repulsed by the womaniser Javed.

‘Khuda ne jab tujhe banaya hoga / ek saroor uske dil me aaya hoga / socha hoga kya dunga tohfe mein tujhe / tab jaake usne mujhe banaya hoga,’
Shahid said without looking at Priyanka when the media asked him to enact his role.

‘Aap humein bhool jaao humein koi gum nahin / jis din humne aapko bhula diya / samajh lijiyega is duniya mein hum nahin,’ this time looking at Priyanka, who chimed in: ‘Na jagte hue khwaab dekha karte hain / na chaaho use jise paa na sako / pyaar kahan kisi ka poora hota hai / pyaar ka pehla akshar adhoora hota hai.’

Shahid said what he loves about the role of Javed Quadri is that he is eccentric and has a mind of his own as he abstains from being involved in the freedom struggle.

‘He does not always get it right, sometimes it works and some days it simply fails to make a mark,’ he said when asked about his recent movies flopping.

In the second love story, Priyanka plays Ruksar, a star from the 1960s. The actor claims that it was a very difficult task to create the look of Aaradhana (which she believes was done well by Manish Malhotra).

So how was working with Shahid? ‘Absolutely terrible’, said Priyanka, laughing.

‘There is an absolutely wonderful option to block which I often use,’ she said when ask about negative comments about her on Twitter.

‘I overlook such negativity, when I see fans supporting me and people still wishing me well,’ said Shahid.

The actor also denied that the character of Javed was inspired by a known artist. ‘Javed is so
badtamiz
that it would cause a furore,’ he said.

Priyanka said she would have gladly played Javed if she was a man. ‘Working with Kunal was a good experience simply because all the roles I played have been equally challenging.

‘I got to play three characters in one movie,' she said. So what is a dream role for her? ‘Every role that I have enacted so far has been a dream role for me where I got to play challenging roles,’ she said.

‘I love to multi-task and Teri Meri Kahaani offered me a chance to play three different roles in one go,’ said Chopra.

Among all the three characters, Priyanka says she loved the role of Ruksar which is set in the 1960s. ‘But Radha (a character set in 2010), is me,’ she added.

Refuting rumours that he has already planned a sequel, Kohli said he might plan one if the movie turns out to be a hit.
