‘Seize Ranjit Sinha’s cell phones for more details’

Speaking to Millennium Post, Bhushan said: ‘His cell phone and other modes of communication should be scrutinised to reveal the entire truth. It is important for the nation. His conversation via cell phone with Kanpur-based meat exporter Moin Qureshi is with the government. The government now should confiscate his cell phone as well.’

Bhushan said: ‘As an Indian and an activist it is my duty to serve the nation and to stand against all ill practices which hampers the interest of the nation. I am sure the investigation agency will surely look into all his communication channels and I am going to make an appeal for this. I am sure with this initiative more startling revelations will come forward.’

With serious charges against the director and back-to-back pleas against him in the Supreme Court by two NGOs (with Bhushan as their lawyer) - Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL) and Common Cause in 2G matter and coalgate - informed sources said a court-monitored, high-level inquiry against him is likely to be happen soon. It might be possible that he will be banned from traveling aboard without prior permission from the concerned departments.

Sinha landed in a controversy after the visitors’ diary at his residence revealed he met two top Reliance ADAG officials nearly 50 times in the last one year. It is also being charged that the visits coincided with Sinha’s alleged attempt to file an affidavit which sought to ‘defuse’ the charges against the company in the 2G scam.

Since his joining as a CBI director in 2012, everything was going well for Sinha till the CPIL in a petition filed before the Supreme Court on 2 September claimed that visitors’ entry register at Sinha’s residence is ‘very disturbing’ and contains ‘explosive material’ in 2G spectrum allocation scam against Reliance Telecom.

While going through Sinha’s visitors’ list, it was reportedly revealed that not only officials of Ambanis but other influential persons including Qureshi had also visited his residence at least 90 times. The other who has visited Sinha’s residence is Devendra Darda, son of Congress MP from Yavatmal, Vijay Darda. Vijay is an accused in coal scam along with his brother Rajendra Darda.

News of Qureshi’s dubious activities and his connection with people in corridors of power including a former CBI chief was first broken by Millennium Post on 22 February, 2014. Bhushan had read out Millennium Post’s detailed coverage on Qureshi’s dubious activities in a press conference in the nation capital.
