‘Sangeeta is not miffed with Azhar’

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has slammed the reports that actor Sangeeta Bijlani is not happy with her portrayal in the upcoming biopic Azhar.

Directed by Tony D’Souza, the movie is based on the life of former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. There were reports that Bijlani was not pleased with the making of the movie, which reminds her of the time when she was married to the ex-cricketer.

“That’s completely wrong. Even Azhar bhai was a bit concerned about that. She didn’t say anything of that sort to the press but some paper had carried it, which is baseless,” said Emraan.

In the movie, Nargis Fakhri will essay the role of Bijlani, who was married to the former cricketer until their divorce in 2010.

Azhar stars Emraan in the titular role and also features Prachi Desai, Lara Dutta among others.

While Prachi Desai said playing Mohammad Azharuddin’s first wife Naureen in the movie was more difficult that portraying his second wife Sangeeta Bijlani’s role in the biopic, played by Nargis Fakhri.

“Anybody can play Sangeeta Bijlani’s role but nobody can play Naureen’s role other than me. Naureen’s role was much difficult. I don’t think anybody could have done this role and you will realize this. “We have a lot of actors who play glamorous parts but I don’t think there are many who can bring out depth, maturity or variation in their role. I think that I do bring that onscreen to some extent,” said Prachi.

Prachi says that she got the best role in the film. “I think I hit the jackpot as I got the best role in the film. It was a huge challenge for me to play this role because I have never seen her nor read much about her,” she said. The movie is scheduled to release on May 13.
