Riders wearing sub-standard helmets in Delhi Police’s ad

According to Delhi Traffic police, around 80 per cent of the riders wear sub-standard helmets while the rest wear ISI-marked helmets.

On Tuesday, Delhi traffic police started a special campaign and advertised about it in print and electronic media. But, in all the campaign posters, there are three girls on a scooty. Interestingly, all of them are shown wearing sub-standard fashionable helmets.

Even through its advertisements acros all media platforms, Delhi police has failed to educate the riders about the type of the helmets that are considered standard. However, a senior traffic official informed Millennium Post found that open face, dirt/motocross, modular, adventure touring, sport touring, scooter and race replica will be considered as standard helmets.

When a senior traffic police official was contacted to know about their failure to educate the riders about the apt helmets the official said, ‘The photographs used in the advertisements, where girls are wearing helmets, is only to convey the message that helmets are mandatory.’
