Rawat meets Modi, seeks special package for U’khand

The CM later invited PM Modi to Kedarnath shrine and also pinned hope for support on the issues raised by the state government.

The U’khand Government has demanded central aid in the ratio of 90:10 in the close heels with North Eastern States. He said that in the meeting held by the National Development Council (NDC), the Union forest minister has given an assurance on granting Green Bonus status to Uttarakhand, but this had still not been granted and sought an immediate inquiry into this pending matter.

CM Rawat asked for a special package for development of Kedarnath Dham, Gairsen, Kailash Mansarovar Yatra routes and management of ‘Ardha Kumbh’ 2016 to be held in Haridwar. Nearly five crore people are expected to participate in Ardha Kumbh fair.

In a letter submitted to the PM Modi, CM Rawat has stated that the 75 km road from Rudraprayag to Kedarnath via Gaurikund was damaged due to natural disaster. He added that the state government worked on war footing to get the roads repaired and opened them for the yatra that began on 4 May.
