Ramanujan College lays foundation for new campus

Ramanujan College, affliated to Delhi university, organised a foundation stone laying ceremony for its new campus at Kalkaji in New Delhi, to celebrate 125th birth anniversary Srinivasa Ramanujan.

Jitin Prasada, human resource development minister, and DU vice-chancellor, Dinesh Singh, laid the foundation stone and unveiled the statue of Srinivasa Ramanujan on Sunday.

S P Aggarwal, principal of the college, quoted Nehru, who described Ramanujan’s brief life and death as ‘symbolic of conditions in India. of our million hands few get any education at all.’

Prasada, while addressing the audience, highlighted the significance of ethics and values in education to attract students from India and abroad. He also said, ‘The reverence towards Ramanujan shall only be possible if the college can harmonise education with the true spirit of scientific enquiry and accomplishment.’

International Journal of Applied Ethics, published by Centre for Ethics and Values, Ramanujan College, was released on this occasion by the chief guest.

Bala Bawa, chairperson of the governing body said the building shall have an academic block, amphi- theatre, administrative block, entertainment block, hostel and other utility centres.
