Raiganj varsity principal to get Banga Ratna Award

The state government will confer Banga Ratna Award on Dr Anil Bhuimali, the Principal of the newly founded Raiganj University.

The Higher Education Minister Partha Chatterjee is expected to confer the award on Bhuimali in the next week during the inauguration of Uttar Banga Utsav at Balurghat.

It may be mentioned that Bhuimali had been appointed as the principal after the Raiganj University College was elevated to the full fledged university. He had taken over the charge of Principal of newly set up university on April 16, 2015.

Bhuimali has been nominated for the award as he contributed immensely to start post-graduate courses in the university with limited infrastructure.

The students and the teachers of the Raiganj University were overwhelmed with joy as their principal has been nominated for the prestigious award. The students were making some arrangements to felicitate Bhuimali for his effort to elevate the educational institution into a full-fledged university. A senior official at the university said the award will encourage other teachers of the university.
