President on three-day visit to West Bengal from Dec 12 to 14

President of India Pranab Mukherjee will be on a three-day visit to West Bengal from December 12 to 14. 

Mukherjee will inaugurate the 185th anniversary of Calcutta Chamber of Commerce on Saturday. On the same day, he will also inaugurate an exhibition of Shri Shahbuddin Ahmed organised by Ganges Art Gallery at ICCR in Kolkata.  

On Sunday, Mukherjee will deliver the Debranjan Mukherji Memorial Lecture at Raj Bhavan and inaugurate the statue of Lord Shiva at Seth Banshidhar Jalan Smriti Mandir in Howrah. 

After inaugurating the closing ceremony of the Bicentenary Celebrations of the Diocese of Calcutta at St. Paul Cathedral, he will attend the concluding function of 125th Birth Anniversary of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru organised by the Bidhan Memorial Trust in Kolkata.

On Monday, the President will deliver the Indira Gandhi Memorial Lecture organised by the Asiatic Society. 

He will also be the chief guest at the final match and prize distribution ceremony of the 6th Edition of KKM Memorial Gold Cup-Rural Football Tournament at Jangipur before returning to New Delhi. 

Mamata greets Prez on birthday
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee greeted President Pranab Mukherjee on his birthday on Friday. “Birthday greetings to honourable Rashtrapati ji,” the Chief Minister tweeted. 

Banerjee also wished him in Bengali saying, “Bhalo theko Pranab Da (be well Pranabda)”. Born on December 11, 1935 in Mirati West Bengal, Mukherjee has a political career spanning six decades.
