Poll body puts media briefing on hold

With opposition parties staging dharna against alleged rampant rigging and violence in the civic polls in two municipal corporations in West Bengal today and demanding <g data-gr-id="22" style="color: #3b3b3b; font-size: 11px;">repoll</g>, the State Election Commission has put the scheduled media briefing on hold.

The SEC office was scheduled to hold a media briefing at 6 <g data-gr-id="19">pm</g> but it has been delayed without any 
communication.

Officials in SEC said on condition of anonymity that there is no possibility of any official briefing as long as the <g data-gr-id="16">dharna</g> continues.

A BJP delegation headed by its state president Rahul Sinha staged a dharna outside the State Election Commissioner S R Upadhyay’s office cabin after meeting him there.

Left and Congress demonstrated and sat on dharna on the road in front of the main entrance of the 
SEC’s office.

Upadhyay had told PTI <g data-gr-id="17"><g data-gr-id="21">the the</g></g> EC was looking into the complaints and would decide on the next course of action after it.
