Police horse Shaktiman’s statue removed in 2 days

As per reliable sources, the state Congress government, which had installed the larger than life statue of Shaktiman near Vidhan Sabha crossings on last Saturday, removed the statue in the wee hours of Tuesday after receiving criticism from social media sites.

Many BJP leaders opine that Chief Minister Harish Rawat came up with the idea to unveil the statue of martyr police horse on Monday after meeting astrologer Bejan Daruwala, and later on Tuesday morning the statue was removed on lame excuses.

State BJP Chief Ajay Bhatt said, “Why Congress is stooped to low level politics just to gain political mileage for next assembly elections. Many statehood agitators sacrificed their lives in Khatima, Mussorrie, Muzaffarnagar etc, but CM never thought of making statue in their honour. Why this particular horse is so dear to Congressmen?”

Many morning walkers at Dehradun-Haridwar highway were surprised to see the statue of Shaktiman missing from the spot. Later, it was learnt that the statue was lifted from the spot at 5 am and shifted to police line.  Rawat said he was leaving the task to unveil the statue of the martyr horse Shaktiman to the next government. He added, “As police horse laid its life on duty, so he wanted to honor brave animal. But some people have made this a political issue.”

The alleged attack on police horse got viral on social media leading to the arrest of BJP MLA Ganesh Joshi along with two other party workers on March 18.
