PESB selects Gajendra Singh as GAIL director (marketing)

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on Wednesday selected Gajendra Singh to be the new director (marketing) of national gas transmission and marketing company, GAIL (India) Ltd. Singh is currently serving as GAIL’s Executive Director (Marketing). Singh, who started his professional life as a software engineer for processing and interpreting of seismic data with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in 1985, has had one of the most illustrious career’s in the international hydrocarbon sector. 

He joined GAIL in 1986 when the gas industry in India was at still at nascent stage and has been involved in the execution of several of the company’s prestigious projects, starting from the HVJ. 

Singh has also held various leadership and strategic positions.  Some of the key roles he has served in General Manager (Gas Sourcing and Gas Marketing), Executive Director (Operations & Maintenance) his current assignment, Executive Director (Marketing). 

As ED , he has been responsible for fulfilling GAIL’s vision to source and market natural gas from international and domestic sources, facilitating maximum capacity utilisation of pipeline infrastructure, and investing in new pipelines.   Singh has also been managing  the company`s  top and bottom lines through  various zonal offices located across the nation. 

Earlier in the week, GAIL won a second extension for completing the Kochi- Bangalore-Mangalore natural gas pipeline as it faces unprecedented problems in getting land in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Oil regulator Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) last week gave GAIL four more years till February 2019 to complete the 1104-km Kochi-Koottanad-Bangalore-Mangalore natural gas pipeline.
