PESB picks RK Srivastava for AAI boss, BP Sharma for CMD of Pawan Hans

In a move to kick-start the recruitment process to fill higher-level vacant posts at different PSUs, the Narendra Modi-led NDA government has initiated the process with the appointment of new heads of Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Pawan Hans Limited, the arms of civil aviation ministry.

In a major decision, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) under the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) has selected RK Srivastava, a 1984-batch Jharkhand cadre IAS officer, as chairman of Airport Authority of India. In another major decision, the PESB has recommended the name of BP Sharma for the post of chairman and managing director (CMD) of Pawan Hans Limited. Sharma is presently serving as executive director of AAI. The names will now be sent to Cabinet’s appointment committee for final approval.

The selection board interviewed 10 senior officials for the post of AAI chairman on 25 September, while 12 officials from different PSUs were screened for the Pawan Hans CMD post on 30 September.

At present Sudhir Raheja, AAI member (planning), is the acting chairman of the apex airport body. The post of chairman was lying vacant after the superannuation of AAI’s former boss BP Agrawal, while the post of Pawan Hans CMD was vacant  for the last two years.
