Pakistan terror mascots sing different tunes on India

The two leading mascots of Pakistan-based terror operatives – Hafeez Saeed and Masood Azhar have a divided opinion on how to engage with India post-strike.

On the one hand, Jaish-e-Muhammad chief Masood Azhar has called for jihadist groups to be allowed to escalate their operations against India, arguing that “a lack of decisive decision-making” could rob Pakistan of a “historic opportunity” to seize Kashmir. Jaish has been held responsible for the attack on army camp in Uri in which 18 Indian soldiers were killed.

However, the perpetrator of 26/11 terror attack on Mumbai, Lashkar-i-Tayyeba chief Hafiz Saeed has toned down his aggressive approach towards India. Pakistan media has quoted Saeed as saying that the US was Pakistan’s enemy and it is time for his country to shift its focus from the US to building the relationship with India.

Saeed also attacked the Pakistan government for its failure in resolving the Kashmir issue. He said the Pakistani parliamentarians are the “real roadblocks” in Kashmir’s freedom.

Acknowledging the ‘pain’ of Pakistan’s international isolation, the 26/11 mastermind, however, said that India would understand the pain after freedom of Kashmir. “Instead of the US, you (government) should build ties with India. The US would block such an effort,” media reports quoted him as saying.

Meanwhile, Masood, who was released from Tihar jail following IC-814 hijacking, in his front-page article in Jaish weekly magazine al-Qalam, has said, “If the government of Pakistan shows a little courage, the problem of Kashmir, as well as the dispute over water, can be resolved once and for all right now. If nothing else, the government simply has to open the path for the mujahideen. Then, god willing, all the bitter memories of 1971 will be dissolved into the triumphant emotions of 2016.”

The article also sought to belittle India military strength saying, “What remained of its military prowess was exposed in Pathankot and Uri.”
